General Information: In recognition of learning taking place outside the classroom, Carlingford University established its Advanced Standings Committee to review Students’ prior learning and award academic credit when warranted. Students with prior learning experience may be able to earn credits toward their diploma or degree from Carlingford University. (Note: Students may not seek Advanced Standing credit for courses they have previously taken and failed, or for courses they are currently taking if they are receiving a failing grade.)

The Advanced Standing option should be considered by students who have:
-Extensive high school course work which is not counted toward satisfying the
requirements for the issuance of the high school diploma.
-Broad work experience supported by training and seminars similar to the course
the student is seeking Advanced Standing Credit for.
-Completed courses of study at non-accredited institutions.
-Completed Certificate of Diploma courses which are not directly transferable to a degree program.
-Completing noncredit course work, self-study, or other nontraditional education or training.

Credit through Examination:
Credit can be granted upon successful completion of formal written or performance tests for certain courses.

Evaluation of Experience:
Students may earn transfer credit for studies or training which lacks accreditation. If interested, students must register for the Life/Work Evaluation Program and prepare a written portfolio to be evaluated by the Advanced Standings Committee.
